ABOUT BOUNDS & BOWES VOICE
Bounds & Bowes Voice is a broad-based group of local residents who have come together in response to the Low Traffic Neighbourhood (LTN) that Enfield Council has imposed on our streets with no pre-consultation.
Our lives must not be compromised for a scheme that further pollutes and congests the major streets that surround us and which we must use every day to access shops, parks, doctors and all other essential amenities, as well as friends and relatives.
Area-wide solutions must be considered instead and the area fully consulted before any implementation. Better streets have to work for everyone, not just the few.
We are anti-pollution and pro-green
...but we think the Bowes LTN is counterproductive and is putting our community in increased danger
Emergency services delayed
The vulnerable overlooked
More pollution through increased congestion, longer journeys and displaced traffic
A406 users forced onto dangerous right turns
No improvements to walking or cycling
No measures that protect us from Covid whatsoever
We want all stakeholders to work together to achieve a joint approach to road travel and, in the meantime, the current trial should be stopped and the following done:
Enfield Transport Department to engage and consult with all of Bowes residents on traffic calming measures for Warwick Road. Explore ideas that don't close roads, just reduce volume and speed.
Reintroduce the right turn onto A406 from Bounds Green Road to take pressure off Warwick Road.
Increased traffic calming/peak-time restrictions on Warwick Road would have achieved greater quality of life for our area and surrounding roads.
